The very purpose of Lokayukta is lost if Government of the day is going to play around with the powers of Lokayukta according to its whims and fancies. By doing so BJP has lost its right to criticize the Congress for its stand on Lokpal. Basically this shows there is no difference between BJP and Congress when its comes to introducing checks and balances in the functioning of the government. Modi has not done this to protect SEZ but his own political cronies and himself. He does not want what happened to Yedurappa in Karnataka to happen to his government in Gujarat.
