The reason is very simple. Since most of us (including me and you) are corrupt, we encounter corruption at every step. My age is 71 + years and I hardly know any Indian, who has neither taken nor given bribe. I have not taken but in connection with my companys work, I have paid lacs and lacs to many people holding high official posts and supposed to be very religious, since many of them used to have sandalwood pasted on their foreheads. Similar corruption is also there amongst the followers of other religions of the subcontinent. Why people of our subcontinent is so corrupt, needs to analyzed; otherwise it will be difficult to overcome this weakness. I feel that it is due to the greed of money of the Brahmins. Since the time of Atharba Vedas, they started to make the rituals and social practices and customs more and more complicated and elaborate for enhancing their income. If politicians are honest officilas will be honest.Before 1967, corruption existed at high level /now it has percolated to lowest level.

Since our leaders fail to check firmly from the very beginning so it has taken giant shape and politics and vote bank politics come into way also.
