Village Resource Centres or VRCs, are government sponsored programmes that depend on Indian satellites to beam interactive services to mostly rural India on subjects as diverse as agriculture, education, medicine, livestock management and vocational training.
A good example is Telemedicine, where hospitals with communication equipment (audio-visual, etc) can be aided by doctors in distant location. This network includes more than 200 hospitals, some in remote areas.
