Throat cancer can be treated by either surgery or radiation treatment or both. Unfortunately it is often necessary to remove the voice box. Treatment is not necessarily a cure , as with all cancers to key to success is early detection. Prolonged sore throats or a hoarse sounding voice should be checked as soon as possible.
