Sunrise and sunset can be distinguished in paintings because their lights and shadows differ.
The ruddy lights are not clearly distinguished in the rising sun as in the setting sun.
The shadows during a sunrise are not as opaque as they are in a sunset.
During sunrise the sky above still appears dark whereas during sunset the sky above is still bright.

The sky, at the sunset, is more than it is at the dawn

It is impossible to tell the difference by seeing a photo or a painting. Both look the same.

Very simple. Interestingly, just yesterday I was having a discussion on this with an artist. During Sunrise, sky will have more of blue tinge. During sunset, the sky will have more orange tinge (given that the position of the sun is same). This is because of the temperature difference during those two periods

The early rise of dawn, when the cool breeze breaks out , it is sunrise and it appears blue when one sees the early dawn from ones windown or you see from any sea face. i.e if you go to kanyakumari, you can see the clear blue sky during sunrise and during sunset, the sky appears to be readish in colour which we always see.

Sunrise brings with it the beginning of a new day . the coolbreeze, the sweet scent of flowers unfolding before the sun , birds chirping and flying about , the early morning joggers in the mist filled parks ,the milkman, paperman on their daily routine works , the common man attending the temple after bathing in the river , the chanting of the holy vedas , the ringing of bells to ursher in the new day .this is sunrise for me , the beginning of a new day , a new life for new things to be done , to be thought of.i enjoy it every morning.
sunset is just different .although vedic chants and ringing of temple bells and blowing of conch shells are present there is proof that a good day is near at end . as the sun sets over the horison , the lul af activities seem to end ./ birds fly to their nest , the chirping becomes more intense , man hurries home from his daily chores .as darkness engulfs the blue sky and as silence reigns ,it brings forth a melonchany in my heart . a suddenthought of sad ...more

Both seems to be nearly same but while The sunset is often more brightly colored than the sunrise, with the shades of red and orange being more vibrant. there tends to be more dust in the lower atmosphere at the end of the day than at the beginning.where while sun rising it is in one direction In a special upward light coming to a particular rising way with light & pleasent way.

Generally the sky looks redder at sunset than it does in sunrise photos.

I generally have time to observe sunrises and atleast out of my window the sky is blue and clear never red at sunrise.
