Q.

INDIAN FUTEBOL....lots say we can't make it to the qualifiers as serious contenders 'coz Indian futebol needs more money / foreign coach / facilities.....

How come North Korea using an Army training regimen 4 players, and having ABSOLUTELY ZERO access to foreign coach or even a specialized futebol facility usin 100 percent home brew, r able to make it to FIFA qualifiers. Why aren't we able to do that in our own Futebol?!

I REALLY REALLY wish I had an Indian team 2 cheer 4 seriously.

I do not understand why we are complaining about the poor quality of any sports and linked it to the craze of Cricket. In the eighties we have had an all India tournament in foot ball here in Salem. But for the last 10 years there is no football tournament worth mention here. Any sports need exposure and in India we sadly lack it, the exposure. Exposure from school level is necessary to groom players of quality in any sports. Sports at school level for all is almost not at all happening and I doubt if that will happen in the next 20 years. Chess became popular in India after the success of Viswanathan Anand and the success of Amirtaraj Brothers and Ramanathan and ramesh krishnan kindled the passion for tennis and as a result we have had grand slam titles from Mahesh, Leander and Sania. Same is the case with Billiards. It is now popular because of the success of our players in international level. Once you succeed in international level patronage will come to you automatically. Dear Com,
I too have a dream that one day India will become one of the top 32 nations in football.
Let ARMED forces batallion, who shall have no dearth of stamina, set of skills, the coaches and discipline, should form their teams and play with each other for a start, forming teams out of their meritorious members of respective batallions. 22 teams atleast would be headstart. For civilians,
The only way to build a football team is to catch them young. The Sports Ministry and All India Football Federation should set up Football Schools and Academy, as Chinese Swimming team, in each and every state and spot young children, as young as age 6 years with potential and train and educate them. We should have a large pool of footballers who have learnt the skills early, then there's a better chance of building a world-class team. The Indian Government sports ministry should come up with a Mission 2020 and launch a programme aiming to make India a global player in football by 2025.

Indian football needs Indians that play football , Indians are only arm-chair players at the best.

1. Korea dont have cricket & Koreans play for their country
2. See the record of Cricket in India, where Indians more often than not play for themselves.
3. India dont support any other game except cricket, if not what happened to our national sport Hockey?

Finally only if India changes its craziness for cricket as the only game, and gives equi treatment to other games with rich rewards like cricket, than we may see the Indian football on global map

You forgot to mention one thing along with "more money / foreign coach / facilities....." Let me add that most crucial thing required for 'futebol' and that is physical strength and stamina. Besides when we crawl out of the shadow of cricket, only then, perhaps we will time to think about 'futebol'.

Rubbish! When small teams like Cameroon, Senegal etc could make it to qualify for WC without even 1/10th of money of Indian team, I never understood why Indian players & their supporters complain about such superficial things!
