Go for mixing modern with traditional.
When using a mix of styles, its important to disperse them around the room. Dont have traditional on one side and modern on the other.

Treditional home decor are made of local meterials which are more suitable for the given enviroment. But are expensive as the materials required are generally made from manual labour and the raw materials may not be easily available now a days. Moreover with the changes in the design of home some of the traditional decor may look out of place in a modern home. Hence one has to go for a good combination of both keeping in view the layout of the house/flat and its surroundings plus the cost effectiveness.

That depends on the inclination of your mind set. Traditional are heavy ornamented and little dark. Mordern home decor is more colourful with minimalistic designs, and bright.

A lot depends upon the type of home you live. A very modern home can sometimes accommodate a item of antique furniture of accessory. However a home furnished in traditional style would not suit an modernistic item. It is all down to personal choice at the end of the day.
