Now a days all are working that too over time and it causes lots of stress, and none have patience to compromise, so the easiest way is break n go away, also with the lots freedom, many are having illicit relationships and look future in short terms not long terms, hence i think our elders allocated tasks like this let men work outside and women inside...(sorry if i had hurt any, i mean to say wat ever our elders said or do has a meaning)

First of all did the divorce rate ( number of divorce per 100 married people) increased or absolute numbers ?

One reason of increased divorce is long working hours and couple get less time for each other this creates frictions and arguments. If one partner is away for long time other partner may try to fill void by making friends of opposite gender this many not be an extra marital affair but it does not go well with married life.

It would be wrong to say that this has something to do with culture also calling Chennai or Kolkata as cultured city would be plain dishonest, A few hundred cultural events and classical singers do not make a city cultured.

As the population increases, number of marriages too increase. Correspondingly, divorce numbers also tend to record an increase in absolute value. In modern times, a marriage may turn sour, for reasons which cannot be easily diagnosed. As the society tend to become modern and as the marriage as an venerable institution loses its position, divorce tend to increase. In my opinion, expectations from both sides are increasingly becoming unreasonable. I am not an official marriage councilor but in our circle, we come across many number of cases frequently. Most of the time if they take time to consider, unnecessary divorces can be avoided.
