Q.
The book "Catcher in the Rye" had a great impact on him. In fact he wrote out his statement in the book for the police to read before he shot dead a legendary singer just outside his apartment. Can you name the singer and his murderer?

Mark D Chapman had obviously been impressed by Holden's book and carried the book with him when he shot the famous Beatle..John Lennon...from his statement written and found...in the book ..by police..and later on in his statement during Court proceedings..he appeared to be a great fan of the author !!

The book"Catcher in the Rye" by J D Salinger is one of the most controversial novel by J D Salinger. The most well-known popular culture event associated with the novel is arguably Mark David Chapman's shooting of John Lennon. Chapman identified with narrator Holden Caulfield, to the extent that he wanted to change his name to Holden Caulfield. Chapman was found with a copy of the book the night he shot Lennon -- Chapman had written "This is my statement" inside and signed Holden's name. Chapman also read a passage from the book to address the court during his sentencing.
