1) In the backdrop of recent nuclear plants meltdown in Japan due to the earthquake there, she is right in expressing her concern about the safety of nuclear plant in TN.
2) We must not forget that India lags far behind in building the safeguards whether for nuclear plants or such other disaster prone plants. The word safety is usually not found in the lexicon of the establishment.
3) Moreover, in the event of any accidents, the people are not adequately compensated. They are treated like disposable tissue papers. We have the finest example in the Bhopal gas leakage incident.
4) So the GOI must come out openly with explanation as to what kind of measures it has taken as safety in case of any accident to protect the lives and properties of people near to the plant. After all, it is a nuclear plant and it is definitely a serious issue.
