Arundati Roy is is more of an "essayist" than a humanist, a robe, she prefers to wear ..Give ant topic to her, and she will come up with an essay, an essay with out alternatives as solutions to the problems discussed at length in her essay. Her arguments in favour of the Kashmior militants were childish, to say the least. But, when tackling the issue of naxalite/maoist extremism and violence, the authorities have to make an introspection. There is nothing surprising in the statement of the CPM state secretary, because the Maoists are the greatest threats to the CPM than the Congress..The CPM is witnessing the exodus of disgruntled as well as disillusioned party sympathisers from its fold and their joining ranks with the Maoists. Maoism should not been as a law and order problem and the problem cannot be tackled unless the root causes of deprivation, marginalisation, exploitation, unemployment , the rising inequalities and grinding poverty are adressed. Asymetric conflicts demand a diffe ...more

Comrade, unless you can present to me evidence of Arundathi Roy running Stinger missiles or firearms to Maoists / Separatists in Kashmir....she isin't supporting them. I felt the same way, but her questions are quite valid.

She is complaining about code of conduct between troops and civilians, which is not as good as it could be. Frontline / combat hardy troops are quite OK, but the REAR END, and PARAMILITARY RESERVE ..... and the way they behave towards civilians is quite shameful.

The paramilitary reserve forces are not as disciplined or as good quality as u r frontline troops. TO put it short, the paramilitary reserve forces here sort of try and emulate Himmler's Schulzstaffel SS rather than say- General Rommel's troops...or so to speak.

ROy states that the manner in which these rear ends deal w/ ppl makes the ppl hostile to the state and makes them vouch for "the other guy." - which happens to be uh...Pak and Pak armed militants.

Roy also gives special mention and ...more

Basically we have to understand why the police are inapt in tackling the Maoists. The police have lost face, no tribal is willing to support a police, the nazals or the maoists are more near to their hearts. Even in Mumbai we see the police extorting the common people. I got my first bad experience with the police at the age of ten. So if Arundati Roy is supporting the Maoists she is starting a political revolution.

Titanic war between small fishes are suppose to create unhealthy jokes.
We know Arundhati and who all sponsor her.
We also know people like Vijayan and that entire lot of comrades.
War between selfish propaganda is always an interesting event for history watchers.
Expecting some better sparks shortly.

Being Militants or terrorists, they cant be sidelined. See the core of their problems. If it is seriously to be attended, we can sort it out and eradicate terrorism and attend their grievances.
Arundati Roy is right. Now a days Comrades are behaving like capitalists in the state where they are ruling and proper comrades in other states.
Wearing Masks than attending people's problems.
See in Tata Nano issue in bengal too they have behaved like capitalists and against poor people and fix very low rate for the property for the benefit if Tatas .
