I heard some good explanations about Konark and Khajuraho. Some explained that before entering the temple one has to leave the AADI RIPU, KAMA, out. Some other explained that 'Shristi mein hee paramanand hai'.

It's a symbolic representation to the fact that corporal activities which is the DHARMA of the body and spiritual inkling which dwells within the body can in fact co-exist within an individual in the same way as portrayed in the old temples.As a matter of fact the journey to GOD is also meander through such corporal pleasures.Also it is a reminder that even after entering the temple there is always a lurking danger of being attacked by such trappings which is always around us and may distract.

Our learned sages never considered sex as a sin like christianity, one can achieve salvation only after completing all the Karma one has to perform including sex and procreation
