Most of them are Gujarati UP and Tamil Migrants-Settled there- in South Africa also u find Naidoos and Pillais etc
Basically those ports wherever British rulers stopped picked up workers to work in their rubber and tea esates etc and that's why one can find peopel fm Tamil nadu in Malaysia singapore Burma and South Africa Capetown-Maldives and slowly moved up to West Indies etc

Even you will find people in other countries playing for respective countries are of indian origin.....monty panesar, deepak patel, shivanarayan chanderpaul, anil dalpat, nazeer hussain.....etc.
in tennis, this is very common thing to play for different country even if your country of origin is different.
