As per the lobbying disclosure reports filed by the Wal-Mart company with the US Senate, it has spent an amount of over $11 million (more than Rs 52 crore) on issues related to India, as also other matters, in over two years now. In 2010 itself, the company spent $1.37 million (over Rs six crore) on lobbying in the first quarter.
It has disclosed discussion related to India FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) as one of the issues in its lobbying with the US lawmakers in the first two quarters of 2011, during which it spent nearly USD 4 million on various lobbying activities.
Since FDI's have invested(Read paid so much money to MMS & his team members), they are bound to twist the ears of MMS & team , if they do not allow the FDI in retail in India.

There is no rationale behind his statement, he is only a mouth piece of the party president if not why he say that "the suspended cabinet decision on foreign equity in multi-brand retail.....(will be implemented) after elections next year to the various state assemblies" and why not before elections?May be UPA is worried of becoming further cheap in the eyes of the electorate.

It has two purposes . First he wants to give a message to share market that the issue is still alive and it will be sorted out soon . Share market is on the brink of collapse and this will give some hope . Secondly he does not want any bad effect of this issue on poll prospect in 5 states which is very crucial for future of Rahul particularly in UP . The effect of FDI in multibrand retail is huge negative still for short term he wants foreign fund to flow into this country .

Before elections, each of the party will be looking for some issue to rake up ! Once the elections are over, their calculation is - no one would see any "Juice" in the news ! Hence the strategy

That is indicative of Mamata's approval for some other deal with her in the guise of special sanction for west Bengal. Thank God Jayalalitha is out of UPA ; the damage would have been more than double if not so.
