Why r u equating that secularism = congress I party of India???? Congress I and Secularism are NOT the same things :) India is by theory a Socialist Republic but in practice we are more capitalist than the United States. So just 'coz the Cong call 'emself secular don't make 'em secular.

Congress I is a minority ethno / religious outfit, just as the BJP is a majority ethno / religious outfit. . Congress (esp after Indhira Ji's death) operated by attracting to 10000 minorities, on ethnic & religious grounds. Now...I don't wanna b saying this really, and I wish I could find a better example, but if u want an example of a secular front in India, look @ CPI(Maoist). They're brutal. They're mean. They're armed. But they're secular.

Honestly dude, other than CPI Maoist, I am hard pressed to find a truly "secular" legal / illegal organization in the country. A nation that has "RELIGION" and "CASTE (FC / BC)" column in its ration cards can't b a secular in character. If the Cong was se ...more
