Black magic is there amongst many communities and is not a sole prerogative of Bengalis. At some point of time it got largely accepted in eastern India in general and Bengal in particular due to Tantric sect, which was imported from Tibet. In Bengal, Goddess Durga has many forms like Kali, Jagaddhatri, Tara, Chandi etc. At some point of time, probably around end of the first millennium AD, the cult of Tara became quite popular in Bengal; Concept of Goddess Tara was imported from Tibet. Though China claims that Tibet is a part of China, but the fact remains that barring a short period during Ming dynasty, Tibet was never under China. But from time to time Tibet had accepted Chinese suzerainty and one such occasion was during the rule of Tang dynasty.
