When did Naxalites have sophisticated weaponry? AK-47s & mortar shells & unguided RPGs can be produced locally. if u look @ typical Maoist combat fatigue (AS PER IMAGES & REPORTS BY INDIAN MEDIA), the cadre carry .303 rifles & the officers & the NCO's seem to carry AK-47s. Nothing sophisticated here. I'd be surprised if I saw the Maoists using Dragunov sniper rifles, ACS-45 assault rifles, PSG-9 silent sniper rifles etc. But NONE of ANY kind of weapons that'd be classified as "sophisticated."
The artillery corps of the Maoists seem to b VERY limited, and they only seem to have crude infantry mortar shells @ their disposal. I have yet to see the Maoists employ laser tagging mortar technology (ISI funded groups have this capacity), or shoulder fired heat seeking technology.
Just because the Maoists are able to strike Govt forces don't mean they got better weapons. Viet Cong took out US forces largely w/ Moshin Nagants made in 1900s.
