The god of death is neither siva nor yama as given by the ba awardee. the answer is kaala. once that is up ( as per what is given as one's ayush) then one goes to swarga or the naraka ( lord yama's kingdom) . siva/vishnu/brahma have the power to give anyone chirajitwa ( eternal life ). also there were saints who had the power of tranferring the ayush pramaanam in one's next birth to this birth ( thus saving them from sudden death in this birth).
