As one of the member quoted, one shd read the book bhartiya itihas ki bhayanker bhule. by PN Oak..it gives a pin point description how the monument was transformed. and many arguements to prove that it was a palace of a hindu king . which had underground passage to the fort in case of war or emergency. this book was banned by government afer indipendence. few rare copies are available with few people.

There is no evidence for that.
shah jahan would always want to built a makhbara for his biwi and used to gaze at the empty land bnear the yamuna. this is siad by historicans and hence can be said that the structure was built on an empty land

Tejo mahalaya was actually a hindu temple ........... after 300 years shah jahan built the taj mahal on top of the shiv mandir , on memory of his beloved wife , mumtaj mahal............. the old remains of tejo mahalaya are still inside the taj mahal and in sealed rooms ...............
