It happens because we r never able to understand the way these two affect us n how best we can reconcile them . We usually enjoy happiness n grieve pain . However this is not the correct way to react to these two . A person who senses both feelings but treats them at par succeeds in getting used to both of them .

Hi Anu > Believe it or not, but this question relates with the Human Philosophy and it leads the researchers to find its roots that lies with our Puranas. Both Happiness and Pain work in the manner of our right and left hand as they are same part of same body and therefore one cannot dream to discard the left hand simply because it works less in comparison to right one. If happiness and pain is given in equal measures roughly alternating, you don't get used to either. But you think you like happiness. But don't think you like pain. Mind you, there are persons who like pain. Human is a complicated production. If you get pain continuously, you will soon get used to it and perhaps take it as pleasure.
