Excuse me they are not of our time Galib and Mir lived in late 19th century , Iqbal lived in early 20th century also they all were urdu shairs and will be remembered as such.
Secondly Shayars are not only kind of poets , A poet is one who moves a nation so Bankim Chadra Chattarjee whose Poem moved the whole nation is more relevant example. For sheer quality of Poems very few in India can stand up to Suryakant Tripathi Nirala.
Gopal Das Neeraj was one poet whose geet became expression of love for whole 3 generations but he was derided by mainstream critics because he went commercial and his poems were used in film songs.
Today Prasun Joshi is one good poet , Medium of expression has changed from Kavi Sammelan and Mushaira to music videos so a poet who moves with time will be remembered.
