Modi is much much better than indira.out of gujaratno one has seen modi's good work.or he would have got 70%.this report must have been dostored many times too as congress might have got a cardiac arrest after seeing the actual popularity.remember bhagat singh was more popular than gandhi and how jealous gandhi got him hanged.god save our country from congress.abdul kalam is an icon.that bar waitress did not give him a second term.in cong govt only thoroughly incompetent people get positions

Mr. modi is certainly a mass leader who does not need any political god father. he speaks what he feel without worrying about vote bank. other political leaders are playing worst politics which endager our country's security. Amar singh, Mulayam, Mayavati, Arjun singh are the worst leaders who has damaged the country more than terrorists.

At lease Congress party and left party leaders will not be able to digest such news. Victory of these parties now a days depends on communal verses secular cards. All person in my opinion are communal in their core of hearts. But asa paolitical party leftists and Congressis are most communal and they will not like Narendra Modi to occupy their front seat in this domain. I think India Today group who has published such survey will be taken to task by Congress Party

Most of the leaders who are popular with masses need not be great statesman. Indira Gandhi. MGR, Karunanidhi, Jeya Lalitha, Mayavathi, Mulayamsingh Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Modi are all are very popular with the masses. But are they honest or corrupt free is debatable.Indhira Gandhi ,by her selfish acts was directly responsible for the downfall of congress in Tamilnadu and was in a way responsible for the immoral attitudes of the politicians in India, even though she was and is the most favored popular leader. You cant even compare them with Nehru,Patel, Kamaraj.

You may be rite, but Modi doesn't enjoy that much MASS appeal outside his home state. And in which states were this survey handed out? I don't remember being handed over such a survey in Kerala, for example....

If you take your popular survey totals of popular leaders in Industrialized communes, ppl like Narender Modi, Indhira Gandhi will rank high. If you do the same in a more semi urban / agrarian setting, ppl like PM Chacha, Lal Bahadur Shastri etc., will take the top spots....

And if you conduct the SAME survey in communes where HDI is greater than .75, you will almost see a 100% "COmrade EMS / Bhatacharya Basu etc" take up top spot.

Surveys are largely dependent on the logistical area it was taken.

A survey handed out to a population group in an industrial commune is VASTLY diff from that handed over to an agrarian commune, also HDI, etc., are differentiating factors.

We have been experimenting to find good governance of the country.Let there be one more experiment .We have been 'slave' for more than thousand years. If on experiments we spend one century, it would not be bigger time for us.Already we have crossed the number of one billion.

There is no doubt that Mr.Modi is an able leader and statesman. But his ways and his stand on the gujarat riots, that's debatable. Like many of Indian leaders, U don't require to be virtuous to become good leader. Just the right tactics.
