Its Shane Warne. I distinctly remember the time when I first saw Shane Warne. I was flumoxxed. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had been a cricket fan and had been watching cricket right from childhood. I had seen the famous spin quartert of India Bedi, Chandra, Prassana and Venkat, but I had never seen a spinner turn the ball as much as Warne. I couldn't believe that with the amount of revolutions he put on the ball he still was bowling with that much accuracy.
And then there was this ball that clean bowled Mike Gatting. It was declared the ball of the last century. Warne bowled around the wicket. The ball pitched outside the leg stump. Gatting left the ball and he was bowled around his legs. The ball spun behind Gatting's legs and actually hit the off stump. I can never ever forget that delivery, especially because Gatting was a very good player of spin bowling and had proved to be the nemesis of Indian spinners in India during the eighty five eighty six English tour of India ...more
