Yes, it is the largest manufacturer of consumer electronics in India & the reason it has been able to make a comeback now is the complete revamp of the brand which was down & out from the consumers minds. Now, we see new product launches by them with new technology & a good marketing strategy to add on to its reach to the people!!

I am not sure of the comeback because in consumer electronics, they have lost the game to SC and LG in all the areas like TV , freeze ,washing machine , audio business .Their mobile business is also in back seat because of scam and projected new bid of astronomical figures and most likely , they may back up .Their only good business are few crude oil wells .Unless they come with a new vision and diversification , things may not be so bright

I think VIDEOCON was the 1st to introduce the washing machine in India in late 1980s....& early 1990s.... by that time ONIDA dominated the TV market.....however by the introduction of BAZOOKA WOOFER ... VIDEOCON managed to attract a considerable chunk of consumers followed by the BUDGETLINE sets....but lateron the BPL pushed it to the back seat by introducing the FF&ST models towards the late 90s.....As in the meantime KELVINATOR collapsed and the VOLTAS was sidelined VIDEOCON entered the cooling sector by sending economy versions of Freeze to the market....but still got a set back from WHIRLPOOL & LG .... and now VIDEOCON is striking back with new version of LCD & LED TVs alongwith set-top box to attract the consumers at the most economy price bands....but if the after sales servicing facility will be widespreadly possible then it may stand the impact of the competition....otherwise SONY & SAMSUNG will push it back .....
