The term engineer is of not much significance today, most of the students who come out of engineering colleges finally end up doing things that are totally unrelated to what they have studied. Today many engineers are seen working in call centers as customer care executives. The main issue is that there are too many engineering colleges and each year thousands are coming out of these colleges, in Tamilnadu alone there are nearly 200 engineering colleges and approximately 15000-20000 seats go vacant per year with no takers. Choose engineering as a career only if you get into prime institutions like IIT, BITS pilani, REC, Anna University, to name a few. By paying a few lakhs as capitation and joining some uselss college is not going to help, this is rather going to destroy your career, so try and choose the subject that you are most comfortable with. For south indians, they have just two options engineer or doctor, its high time we realize that there are better career option availab ...more

I don't think so engineering is best career for all , a person should see what are his/ her strong points & in which field a person has interest. If a person is very good in english he/ she can go to jurnalism , technical writing there is a lot of scope , In todays world there is lot of scope in all fields .So join engineering if u r keen but by not just thinking that there are lot of jobs.

For the purpose of debate, there are many fields including begging. But nothing other than ENGINEERING can give a decent living and an assured bread. The advantage is that being a professional, you can be an employer or an employee. And the chances of failure are negligible. in

YES,studying engineering is better than studying medical cause now a days one should look professionally .a Engineering gradute complte studies at age of 23 and start earning straitway by joining good companies like IT,Manufacturing and start their career further where as spending nearly 25 laks rupies in medical with 5 years study is tatally unprofessional ,more over practically a medical graduate takes further intern for 2 years and again takes 3 years to complte MS .after that he or she is not sure to start own clinic wil run smoothly or not .so another 5 years to get proper experience to become a potential good doctor .So it takes total 12 to 13 yaers to become a doctor by this time his own classmate in engineering section become a middle manager earning 70 to 80 thousands per month .practcally a medical student spend arround 30 to 35 laks rs to become a doctor whereas a enginering student spend only 3 to 4 laks for 4 years only .Now I am giving some ideas how student can fair in c ...more

Youngsters should choose the education and career they like most. It is very unfortunate that many parents decide what their children should study without bothering to ascertain what education and career is preferred by their children. Children are not allowed to have their say in many families. As a result we find the youngsters studying a cousrse which they did not want and obtain poor results and lose confidence in themselves and in their future. They become mediocre in the long run. This is mainly the result of parents' greed.
