India is a country where ladies are given special place in our purans, two times in a year they are worshipped during navratra, it is always said that devtas live where ladies are respected,but in recent survey we have been placed 4th in crime against women after afghanistan,congo,and pakistan, the crimes are rape,abduction,dowary death,sexual harrassment in service places,roads in families,throwing acid,honour killing,forcing to immoral acts, killing in wombs,forced exportation(taskari),why inspite of education, scientific development and living in 21st century?you may add some other crimes,

2) The simple truth we all know is that we must practice what we preach. Your Q proves that India as a whole fails when it comes to practice what it preaches. It applies to everything and not just limited to treat women as equal partners with respect and dignity.
3) Finally, it looks very strange as well as shocking that it happens in a country which has elected women as head of the nation several times and even today also.
