Solar energy is available in India too. It is available in Rural India, especially in villages. After the initial investment has been recovered, the energy from the sun is practically FREE. If your system produces more energy than you use, your utility company can buy it from you, building up a credit on your account! This nifty little scheme is called "net-metering".

# It's not affected by the supply and demand of fuel and is therefore not subjected to the ever-increasing price of gasoline.
# The savings are immediate and for many years to come.
# The use of solar energy indirectly reduces health costs.

Besides, it is environmental friendly.

Solar Energy has its disadvantages too.

Yes this is solar energy - houses in US, UK and Europe can have solar panels installed in the roof from which the light from the sun is stored to produce electricity in order to illuminate lamps or create hot water. The Sun produces a range of energy, some we see as white light and another part, the wavelength can be harnessed as electricity. A special photo cell is installed in the solar panels which does this. The whole system is not cheap to install but the savings and benefits can be seen in a few years.
