Life is the sum of the distinguishing phenomena of organisms, esp. metabolism, growth, reproduction, and adaptation to environment. Or, it is the course of existence or sum of experiences and actions that constitute a person's existence

Immortal means capable of indefinite growth or division. Used of cells in culture. Or, immortal means not subject to death: immortal deities; the immortal soul.
We will assume that by "physical" you mean you'd like to be in a body that resembles your human body rather than a chain reaction of ever multiplying cells. By immortality you may mean that in that physical body you would live forever, for a limitless time, past any measure of time that exists in the universe. The modern science has made some experimens have been able to find a cause of decreased rate of cell division. It is in experiment state.
The Ayurved had devised a chemical ie "RASAYAN' which was made by stabilising mercury and mixing some other herbs. The method can be found in the book Ras raj tantra; but it is almost impossible to make.
Stlll there are many immortals, other than those eight which are mentioned in our scrips, but they are make penance in a place which no body can reach. Still during the making of bridges and laying of rails in dense jungles, some of them very found.
