I believe that in addition to dedication, commitment and hard work, a bit of luck is required. This is because I have some friend who work hard, are dedicated but just do not make it!

Luck factor, if at all exists, is unknown to all of us. Failing to prepare is preparing to fail. All the things you have mentioned do pay in real life

What so ever happens, it happens out of design or by chance,,,one can design the things to happen but cant stop things from happening by chance.......and these happenings by chance are the turning points.
