November 1st is the States Formation day, when the linguistic demarcation of the former states were done with lot of cutting, chopping and mergers.
All the four Southern States along with a few others like Assam, Bihar, MP, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP etc celebrate the State Formation day on this date. Many of these original states have undergone further divisions in the later years.
Of all the States which have the States Formation Day on November 1st, Karnataka has been in the forefront as far as celebrating the event itself is concerned. It is one of the States which has its own flag. However, this year the celebration has been on a low key due to the floods in the Northern parts.
