Less refined and grayish in color is rock salt.Table salt is the common salt normally found on every table. It is a fine-ground, refined rock salt with some additives to keep it free-flowing.Chemically both are same i.e sodium chloride.

If you just take regular salt and dissolve it in a glass of water until no more salt will dissolve and then let some additional salt fall to the bottom of the glass, this is called a saturated solution of salt. You can take a piece of string and suspend it down into the solution and then, over the period of a week or two, let the water evaporate. As it does so, the salt clings to the string and forms large solid crystals of sodium chloride. This is rock salt.

Some people are idiots and think there is something healthy about rock salt, or that it is different from processed salt. ALL SALT made in the US has to be REFINED according to FDA rules, and that includes rock salt...so there is no such thing as one salt being different from another - even sea salt has to be refined when it is commercially sold. Kosher salt is only Kosher because a Rabbi said so, that is what makes it Kosher...I know about this because I work in the food industry with food ingredients.

There is no differenc ...more
