There are lots of names specially in North India that are common to both the religions. Malik is not a new name. I don't know if you remember the Pakistani cricketer Salim Malik, a decently good batsman and also a former captain. Specially among Punjabis, it is not an uncommon name at all in our country.

She is a Muslim.Had she been a Hindu there would not have been a death threat to her by Muslim fundamentalists of Pakistan n also there would not have been a Fatwa issued against her by clerics of Pakistan.
