Read a news like that in the paper. Though a cumbersome work, Face Book is determined to weed out fake ids, because fake ids are used to tarnish other members, spread rumours etc.
China blocked FB, Twitter and Youtube when rumours were spread using these social sites, which resulted in death and destruction in a muslim dominated Chinese state.Probably FaceBook does not want India to block it here in India, following the Chinese example.

If possible I would recommend this for all net services...it would reduce the filth and make the users a more responsible lot instead of the loose character language...behaviour and debauchery being displayed.

God alone knows.. I am not there at all.. and wonder how are they actually going to find out? Maybe through IP addresses but with such a large population it would be a herculean task.
