To clap, two hands are required. Whether other party remains inimical of come to friendly terms, it is always better to forgive and forget from our side.
That is good for mental peace and prosper in life. Otherwise, life becomes tense and we lose peace of mind.

When the other party remains inimical, there is no meaning in forgiving. Forgiving yields good results only when the party repents for what he/she has done to us.
