Western peoples fear the word "Jihad." They learned to fear it because it has historically been characterized by fanaticism and war. It appears to be irrational and unstoppable save by any means but total military defeat. It is the perception of the Western mind that Islam is militant and relentless. Modern Islamic terrorists give much credence to this perception, and a careful examination of history will show that this perception is a valid one.

Never the less, Muslims today attempt to alleviate this fear of Islam by saying that westerners do not really understand the Islamic concept of Jihad. They will assert that Jihad is really the personal and individual struggle to overcome those things in one's life that Allah would have eliminated from their life. This assertion is true, but it is not the exclusive use of the term Jihad.

..some things may be better off unexposed..

O you who believe! let not (one) people laugh at (another) people perchance they may be better than they, nor let women (laugh) at (other) women, perchance they may be better than they; and do not

expose (find)

fault with your own people nor call one another by nicknames; evil is a bad name after faith, and whoever does not turn, these it is that are the unjust..

No. I think not. For Truth can't be hidden. Not by any human means as far as I know. As I said, Thou art the Truth. If people can't see that. Their myopia has to be cured. Truth is there in the open.

Because truth always wins.
Truth is always strong, no matter how weak it looks; and falsehood is always weak, no matter how strong it looks.
