Each and every custom in disposing dead bodies has it's own advantage and usage to mankind. Different religions follow different practices and commenting on them leads to contreversy.

Scientifically, burial is more meaningful when such land is re-used for other purpose.

Burning causes lot of pollution, A muslim never gets his body burn, proudly i can say we have taken birth on this soil and remain after death also in this soil

Burning process will cause pollution and also the smell is blunt.
burial on the other hand is good , as the body is mixed with mund and turns into mud.
A decomposing body releases unpleasant gases related to decomposition while burning. As such, burial is seen as a means of preventing smells from expanding into open air.
it is more dignified to be buried than to be burnt.
An elder, now deceased narrated this anecdote. In the times of British India, a colleague of his, JAIN by faith, working for a court in North-West of now Pakistan, received the news of death of his only brother in present day India. After he returned from his home town, he went through a prolonged bereavement. This elder, tried to console him and every time he would get the same reply, I wish we had graves like you Muslims because when he reached his town, his brother had been cremated and the ashes had been set afloat in Ganges. Both are ok. Muslims and Christians bury the body,Hindus burn the body.
