For a pregnant women the bangles simulates hearing in the child, since the wrist being close to womb. Thus we teach hearing to the child. Please refer valai kappu in Tamil Tradition.

Its really good question actually they do lot of work so the ankle bones should be stiff so that they don't get much pain
