Is India a Hindu country or an islamic country? If its a Hindu country then there should be no harm in letting its famous son visit India... If India is a Islamic country then why are there still so many temples and Hindu religious icons in existence. It should all be destroyed as they are all anti-islam and we should dispose of everything that is anti- islam including Rushdie........
If India is a Hindu country and allows certain muslim extremists to voice their thoughts and dislallow Rushdie, then Hindu's should kick an even bigger fuss against cow slaughter . Would muslims abide?

It seems u r capable of holding only 2 possibilities in mind......Hindu country or Islamic country !
Countries have NO religion, even with humans, religion is imposed on each person ! That being the fact, all modern civilized countries are SECULAR countries.. which means state doesnt recognize division of people on the basis of their faith. In theory our country is a secular one, but in practice secularism is yet to take roots because of vote bank politics !
I am outside all religions, and I dont believe in primitive practice of Fatwas on individuals !

Lot many people are not aware that Salman rushdie book also contains references to hurt Hindu religious sentiments though few seem to be aware of this: he insults Hindu gods and goddesses. Words like lecherous, drunken and flighty are used with reference to Rama and Sita.
The author Raold Dahl rightly launched an attack on Salman Rushdies work, calling him a dangerous opportunist. As he said, this type of sensationalism did get the book to the top of the best-seller list but to my mind it is a cheap thing
So in no way have Rushdies writings ever provided anything healthy to the development of society or its literature. He has only hurt sentiments of the people and abused religions and cultures. But then, it is taken as being very liberal and democratic to welcome Rushdie and allow him to express himself. But all Citizens think about community and caste oriented...........That is the problem..............
