Q.

Couple of years ago many projected very bright future for auto component manufacturing companies in India and predicted that many leading automobile companies like Toyota, Benz, GM etc will come to India to source auto components. But that has never happened if one considers the present state of the auto component industry in India. Your views on this please?

The sector has been in a bad shape globally which has also affected it in India. Most of the companies are struggling to make profits & keep the business intact which has made it quite a tough proposition for them to expand their business!!

GM itself got sunk. Further slump in global demand and loss of faith in Indian beurocracy due corruption led to back-out big guys.
But still auto components and casting industry are doing well because of continuous increase in demand for automobile in local market but not sure whether it can take the same pressure even after one year.
Today news is Skoda is going with buy one car and one car free after 5 years. Toyota is going for exchange after plus 1 lakh and start paying EMI only after 1 year. This is the indication of beginning of slowing down of automobile industry and only lower end cars can only take little bit pressure for prolonged time.
