Idli is very good for health as it is a baked item without any trace of oil. Even patients are recommended to eat Idli. Dosa is also a healthy food for breakfast. Both Idli and Dosa contain Udad Dal that is very nutritive. In my house, we use two varieties of rice & udad dal. One is boiled rice and normal rice. These 2 rice, after soaking, are grinded separately and Udad dal is grinded separate. Then, these 2 are mixed and allowed to ferment for 4 hours. Idlis made out of these are very soft and dissolve in mouth. The same dough is used to make Dosas after 8 hours of grinding.
