Herge'S Adventures of Tintin is influenced by his earlier work in which he created a character Tortor a boy scout,on whom tintin is said to be based.Herge deeply admired the works of Benjamin Rabier. And Tintin's hairstyle and name maybe a tribute to the great cartoonist and they are said to be drawn from the Rabier's comic character Tintin Lutin. The boy in the cartoon is seen with a dog and that could be the inspiration for snowy. Your question drew me because I have lived on Tintin comics for so long that I breathe his adventures...thank you for a highly stimulating question...!
