Indian cinema was at its best during the 1950s with film makers like Satyajit Ray, Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, B.R.Chopra, Raj Kapoor, Mehboob khan, V.Shantaram, Vijay Anand making movies which were not just entertaining but also having a social message. For me this was the golden decade of Indian cinema. The quality went down but upto the period when Amitabh was the angry young hero it was ok. Since then it has been very much downhill and with movies like Rowdy Rathore, Dabang etc earning 100 crores it shows that the audience's taste has also gone down. But the encouraging thing is that with a new genre of film makers like Raju Hirani, Dipakar Banerjee, Sujoy Ghosh, Anurag Kashyap, etc are making movies which are unlike formula movies and rooted to reality and these also have audiences.
As far as Zohra Sehgal is concerned I can say that movies have gone downhill with age, but this lady has becoming much more graceful, charming and dignified with age. I salute her.
