Every one knows what Churchill felt about granting India freedom (this has been repeated here a number of times):

"Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre and men of straw. They will have sweet tongues and silly hearts. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India."

Why were in a hurry to prove him right, a man who we hated with all our heart for his imperialistic arrogance!!! From whom do we get freedom? Some one else will come to power who will be equally worse. Russians sighed with relief when Lenin came to power. Less than 15 years later, in a period of 10 years, Stalin sent 20 million of his own countrymen to their deaths in a remorseless cleanup act. What is the idea of singing about Soviet advancement, forgetting what was done to please one man's megalomania ???

There is no escape route at present. ...more

Not difficult but impossible as long I sleep ...I slept when Kanishka was blown up. I slept when hindus killed muslims, when muslims killed hindus regardless of age, gender or region. I slept when sikhs were gutted and killed. I slept when Kashmir burnt. I slept when a plane full of passengers and crew was taken to Kandahar. I slept when Biharis were targeted... I slept when Mumbai burned . I am an Indian. I sleep.

My country has been taken hostage not by terrorists. No, not by terrorists, but by people within it - ruling it. My country and my countrymen are held hostage and captive by its incompetent, uneducated, dishonest, exploitative, impotent, inefficient politicians, government and all its administrative departments.

Efficiency is shown in bribing and in buying votes and seats, competence in bringing down other parties, expertise in bringing discord and playing divisive politics.

Regionalism has reared its ugly head because I am sleeping. Reservation is still strongl ...more

Humanity is ONE. The world is ONE. Nationality itself is NOT real, it is just a man-made division of land based on mutual consensus! So the term foreigner has no absolute meaning !
But there always have been exploiters and the exploited, it matters little whether the exploiter can be called foreigner or Indian !
A society's freedom depends on the uprightness and integrity of its people. A nation of hypocrisy like India, is bound to be enslaved in one way or another !
