Check out the summary here: tinyurl.com/kll8f9

Pakistan remains among the top 10 failed states according to the index prepared by the renowned Foreign Policy journal. This is the fifth annual report. Last year Pakistan was ranked 9th - this year it has improved to 10th spot!

While Sri Lanka is placed 12th, Bangladesh 19th and Nepal 25th.

India is placed 87th amongst the 177 nations studied. So there are 86 states worse than India - which include all of India\'s immediate neighbours!

This ranking will definitely not make any Indian happy. But I think there must be other factors which when taken into consideration, the total effect conveys a picture like this. For example the size and the population size and the country\'s achievements in proportion to that. Bangladesh being 12th, Nepal 25th, Pakistan 11th and India 87th!! This just cannot be true. They must have taken into account the starvation deaths in India (Orissa) and also the per capita income of Rs.20/- or less
