One of the best cars in the small segment with an automatic transmission is the Hyundai i10 Kappa Automatic... it has enough power for a car of its size and has a decent 4 speed automatic gearbox, the car also returns a very decent fuel average. Another option would be the recently lauched Hyundai i20 1.4 ltr petrol, however that will much more expensive.

There is no sedan in Indian maket for 5 lacs with an automatic transmission. But well-known as Made for India car Logan has proven its mettle all over.
Having driven Logan, it has proved to be the survivor among its segment cars in the small towns of India. The car is spacious enough to accommodate 5 persons. The price varies from models as per their comfort specifications. The car is fuel efficient; it gives approximately 22kms/litre on highways. When AC is on it comes around 17.5kms/litre. The overall performance is ok. The diesel version is the best choice to go for. The base model of the car is priced at Rs. 4, 89, 000 and the top end costs Rs. 7, 28, 000.
