Q.

When there was a dress code there was hue and cry against muslims. Supported even western countries against muslims.Hats off to Haryana Govt. who made it mandated its employees to wear decent dress. Is this not for the modesty of women ?

What Haryana government has done is nonsense. Jeans are not bad. Jeans cover the body and women feel free to move and do their chores with jeans. This male chauvinism needs to be stopped. It does not fit in our democracy or modern world.
Are we going backwards? Women of Haryana and rest of India should come out against this. Otherwise male chauvinism can extend further and they may impose more restrictions on women.
Women should have the freedom to chose what to dress. Unless the dress is revealing or scanty, nobody should have any say on their selection of dress. Dress code is not acceptable in the modern world. This is not medieval period.

First of all, any government should NOT try to behave like parents . Or like feudal kings. The government has absolutely no right to tell the individuals what to wear and what not to wear.

This , possibly is the worst thing about india at the moment. The government feels that they can control what the "aam junta" speak, write, read, watch in cinemas, wear and soon even think.

Even Moghuls learnt purdah system from Rajputs , Moghuls women dressed up in Hijab but not purdah or ghoongat , this modesty is appreciated in Rajput culture
The Govt of Haryana had no other alternative as modesty of women is very important
tight revealing jeans are not a part of Indian culture
now who in right sense would like to see their daughters wear indecent tight revealing dresses and dress itself become and object of sexuality , School colleges are for learning and education ans not for immodesty and revelation of body parts

Haryana Govt. has taken a regressive step. It's shameful. It's not about modesty, but insolence of the male society. In a true civilized society, a man would not do anything inappropriate to a woman, even if she is wearing revealing dresses. It's only for the uncivilized bruts, who blame it on temptations.

There was never a cry against muslims wearing indecent dresses. what r u talking about,. dont talk of Burqa alone.
and Jeans are a decent dress, but by any means it is NOT an office wear. even in our office we never allow any female employess to come in jeans.
and most important, this has nothing to do about modesty of women, but about dresses suitable for office wear,

Jeans is not allowed even for men at office, so I see no harm in Haryana govt. banning it even for females at workplace. But Haryana govt. has never stopped any females from wearing a jeans in their private or public life outside office, which I find a very appreciable decision.
