In India, practicing social secularism gets u branded as an outcast in most parts of the country. If u marry into a different religion, many times u are not only outcasted by the respective religious communities but you also face problems like finding rental real estate.
SO in this secular republic, it is easier being a religious fanatic than it is a social secularist?

Look at it this way. If in spite of so many people having such mentality, we still opted for secularism to be enshrined as one of our constitutional ideals there is something positive to be said about the majority community of this country.
In real terms such thinking will take time to fade out. It entirely depends upon the politicians who thrive upon politics of communalism in garb of secularism
