If the suggestion boxes are not opened after a specific period of time at regular intervals then it is no use to put them up in the first place. And if they are opened and the good and practical suggestions are not implemented then once again it is of no use to put them up just for formality. If these are in shabby condition it probably shows that people generally dont use them to give suggestions as they feel its just a waste of time to give suggestions. However nowadays every govt deptt or PSU on their websites have a consumer grievance link and RTI through which the customers can get their grievances redressed. The suggestion boxes have become old and obsolete idea. Even so many post office boxes have disappeared and the most used boxes are drop boxes in banks, rly stations etc in which cheques are dropped to be deposited.
