Suse is bit different from red hat. fedora is a open source OS from red hat. Suse is from Novell. their are two versions going on side by side enterprise and those released under gpl i.e. free to use. for enterprise you need to pay for the licence. Suse is a paid version of linux.

Red Hat is no more available as free and is only available as enterprise version. RH9 was the last version under open source and then it was followed by fedora. Fedora 10 is latest and on the Enterprise side Red Hat Enterprise 5 is latest.

what you should be more concerned is the kernel version on which OS has been build.
