But here are eight ways to make your recycling efforts as eco-friendly as possible. While everyone agrees that recycling is the right thing to do, it can be a challenge at times. From flimsy recycling bins to roughhousing garbage collectors, and from messes to odor, everyones got a complaint or two about managing their recycling. Kitchen, garden, and other green waste can be recycled into useful material by composting. This process allows natural aerobic bacteria to break down the waste into fertile topsoil. Much composting is done on a household scale, but municipal green-waste collection programs also exist. These programs can supplement their funding by selling the topsoil produced. In cases where recycling truly does save resources, such as with large scraps of aluminum, this will be reflected in market prices, and voluntary recycling will take place. Thus, there is no need for the government to mandate it.
